The owner of Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson break his silence on Cristiano Ronaldo as a star who made a massive impact scoring 4 times in three matches for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, including three in the Premier League.
Could he be the man to fire Manchester United to their first silverware in 5 years?
One man credited with helping persuade Ronaldo to return is his former boss, and legendary Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
Now, speaking to MUTV ahead of the Red Devil’s clash with Aston Villa, Ferguson pointed to Ronaldo’s desire as the reason that he has managed to reach the levels that he has, saying:
“I think he [Ronaldo] was born with desire — he sacrificed himself to be the best.”
One particular story stuck in his mind:
“We were playing Arsenal on a Saturday and it was pouring with rain at Carrington — I went to him [Ronaldo] and said ‘It’s too wet, the ground’s too soft’. I went in the office and looked out my window. He was on the astro turf [practicing].”
The great Scotsman then went on to eulogise about Ronaldo’s second debut, comparing it to something akin to a Roman Emperor, saying:
“That was like [Julius] Caesar entering Rome after victory. I came, I saw, I conquered. It was fantastic.”
With trouble in Manchester since Fergie’s departure, can Ronaldo and Solskjear bring joy back to the red half of the city?
