A Tribe Called Judah hits N1.2billion

Nollywood actress and record breaker, Funke Akindele has been left speechless following her latest achievement.

Days after becoming the first filmmaker to gross N1 billion at the cinema, Funke has recorded another achievement.

The movie star and astute filmmaker had added to her feat, as A Tr!be Called Judah has now grossed over N1.2 billion.

Sharing the good news online, Funke who is left in awe stated that she doesn’t know what to type.

“I no know wetin I go type”.

It was reported that Funke Akindele set a record for the Nigerian film industry as the first ever Nollywood film to enter a billion naira even in a short period.

Funke Akindele made a whooping one billion, sixty million, seven hundred and eleven thousand, four hundred and ninety-one.

Presently on the Wikipedia Nollywood grossing table, Funke Akindele’s movies, A Tribe Called Judah, Battle On Buka Street, and Omo Ghetto The Saga are respectively the highest-grossing Nollywood films of all time.

Though she had earlier appreciated Nigerians, Ghanaians, and her Maker for their massive support for her, the mother of twins had re-penned a better appreciation post to them.

She appreciated them for helping her make history while noting how their comments and the massive love they showed her is one that she cannot express. Funke didn’t fail to appreciate her cast and crew, who she described as amazing. She also appreciated her colleagues, industry elders, musicians, and celebrities for taking their turn to support her project.

Funke Akindele previously held the title of the Highest Grossing movie with A Battle of Buka Street, which netted 640 million at the box office.

This made the mother of twins, the highest-grossing filmmaker in Nollywood, beating Mo Abudu, with the top two posts with her box office movies, Battle on Buka Street and Omo Ghetto The Saga.

Coming third place was The Wedding Party which was produced by Mo Abudu and directed by Kemi Adetiba.

To add to it, Funke Akindele, as well as Mo Abudu, and Ayo Makun had topped the list of highest-grossing movie producers in Nigeria.

In a list compiled by Top Charts Africa, Mo Abudu, Funke Akindele, and Ayo Makun were said to have grossed over N1 billion in movies.
