In a shocking turn of events, Chelsea have reportedly inquired about the availability of embattled Manchester United defender Harry Maguire. Chelsea are said to be keen to bring Maguire to Stamford Bridge as their search for a centre-back continuous to be hard as originally thought.

Thomas Tuchel went into the transfer market knowing that he had to look for defensive reinforcements following the departures of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger. But so far, the club has only brought in Marc Cucurella and Kalidou Koulibaly while also renewing the contract of captain Cesar Azpilicueta. Daily Mail now reports that Chelsea could use United’s interest in Christian Pulisic to land Maguire. Maguire has been under siege for long periods of time at Old Trafford. His place in Erik ten Hag’s squad was considered to be under threat when the club signed Lisandro Martinez from Ajax. The Englishman has, however, started in both United games this season.

At Chelsea, he could fit into Tuchel’s back three operating in the middle of Koulibaly and Thiago Silva or on the right of the latter.
