IT was an hectic day yesterday, December 15,2022 for Oyetunde Kazeem who is number 5 defendant in the murder case of MBA-EXECUTIVE student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Timothy Oludare Adegoke who was allegedly murdered in his hotel room at Hilton Honours Hotel, Ile-Ife between November 5 and 6, 2021.
Kazeem was standing trial at the Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo presided over by Justice Adepele-Ojo.
Mr. Femi Falana who was the Leading Prosecuting Counsel drilled Kazeem for 24 minutes to the extent that he contradicted himself in his evidence compared to the statements he made with the police in 2021 calling a white Hilux Van black.

He also said he can confirm that Rahman Adedoyin did not visit the hotel when the incident happened in the night but said also he slept throughout the night.
When Count 8 was read to him that the MD, Prince Roheem, Aderogba and himself carried the copse of Adegoke to the bush. He had earlier denied how the corpse was carried into the bush but on cross examination by Falana he gave a different account,
FALANA: If I am correct, three of you carried the corpse from the hotel.

KAZEEM: Yes
FALANA: Together with the bag telephone and Laptop, is that correct?
KAZEEM: Yes
FALANA: Where is the laptop now and the telephone?
KAZEEM: I don’t know.

The Defence Counsel challenged Falana that his questions were combative before the continuation of the cross examinations. Falana said, “it is noted.”
FALANA: Who burnt the matress, you can’t remember the matress was burnt?
KAZEEM: I said earlier that I don’t know who burnt the matrass.
FALANA: What of the telephone of the deseased?

KAZEEM: I don’t know anything about the phone.
FALANA: You don’t know anything about the laptop?
KAZEEM: I said earlier that Prince Roheem (MD of the hotel who is at large is the son of Dr Rahman Adedoyin) packed the phone, laptop and all personal effects of Timothy in a bag and dumped it beside the shallow grave where Timothy Adegoke was buried.
Falana asked if they went back to pick the bag after they dumped the corpse, he said no but later said they took the Police to the spot but they could no longer locate the place where Timothy was buried and could not also locate the bag.

FALANA: Where is that car now?
KAZEEM: I don’t know.
FALANA: You said you did not recognize the car when the Police took you there.
KAZEEM; When the Police asked me if that is the car used to carry the corpse, I told them I didn’t know.
A statement was read to him where he said it that the same car that was used to carry the corpse and it was the same car the MD, Prince Roheem usually used.

FALANA: You were surprised that the car was found in Abuja
KAZEEM: Yes (He had earlier denied knowledge of the car).
FALANA: On the 5th of November, 2021 were you awake all night?
KAZEEM: I slept.
FALANA: All the night you didn’t sleep, you are awake all night. Am talking of the 5th and the 6th, did you sleep at all?
KAZEEM: I slept in the night.
FALANA: For how many hours.
KAZEEM: I can’t remember.
FALANA: When you slept , you didn’t know that Dr Adedoyin came in the night?
KAZEEM: We have locked the door. I said it earlier that Adedoyin did not come to the hotel.
FALANA: Do you know what happened to the deceased when you were asleep?

KAZEEM: I didn’t know what happened.
FALANA: Now, when Dr Adedoyin came to the hotel that night he had discussions with you.
KAZEEM: I said it earlier that Dr Adedoyin did not come to the hotel and he didn’t discuss anything with me.
FALANA: You thought they wanted to carry the corpse to the mortuary when he was dumped, did you report to the Police, that somebody died in the hotel?
KAZEEM: I didn’t report to the Police. I couldn’t have reported to the Police when my boss was around. My boss, MD, Prince Roheem told us he has reported at the Police station that was why we carried the corpse

FALANA: You did not report to the Police because you took an oath?
KAZEEM: I did not take any oath.
