Despite a disastrous World Cup campaign, Hansi Flick will continue to lead Germany through Euro 2024 after discussions with the German Football Association.
After Euro 2020, Joachim Low was succeeded by the former Bayern Munich Manager, who had the responsibility of restoring the national team’s reputation following two major tournaments that were disappointing.
Germany, however, failed to advance past the group stage in Qatar 2022, similar to Russia 2018, raising serious concerns about top-level leadership and forcing Oliver Bierhoff to resign as Technical Director.

Flick’s own future had also been uncertain, but now that he has spoken with DFB Vice-President Hans-Joachim Watzke and president Bernd Neuendorf, it is official that he will remain with the organization.
“My coaching staff and I are optimistic about the European Championship in our own country,” Flick said.
“As a team, we can achieve a lot more than we showed in Qatar. We missed a great opportunity there.
“We will learn our lessons from that. We all want the whole of Germany to gather behind the national team again at the home European Championship in 2024.”
Flick has the full support of the DFB, Neuendorf said, adding that a replacement for Bierhoff won’t be looked at until a potential change in leadership.
“We are all convinced that the 2024 European Championship in our own country represents a great opportunity for football in Germany,” he said.
“Our goal is to make this tournament a sporting success. We have full confidence in Hansi Flick. He will master this challenge together with his team.
“With regard to Oliver Bierhoff’s successor, we have agreed that we will first discuss the future structure of this area of responsibility within the DFB and then make a personnel decision.”
