The Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has said that his administration will continue to address challenges at the local councils, despite supreme Court ruling on local government autonomy as to enable a harmonious administration across the state.
Terry A news reports that the governor today gave the assurance during a state stakeholders’ advisory/consultative meeting held at the Executive Chamber, Secretariat, Ibadan.
Governor Makinde said a critical deliberation is staged over the last Thursday’s Supreme Court ruling on autonomy, noting that his administration has never failed in delivering dividends to the people at the grassroots since election in office.

The governor said the judgment, which has had no document to its effect has created a lacuna between Supreme Court and the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria.
Makinde noted that his Administration has consistently paid salaries to local government workers, due allowances, increased payment of gratuity and pensions, with twice conduct of successful local government elections and building of federal government roads including Oyo-Fashola Road.
Meanwhile, Oyo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Biodun Aikomo and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy matters, Ademola Ojo revealed that two technical committees have been set up to consider and review the Supreme Court ruling on local government autonomy.
