Oyo Fire Service rescues 12-year-old boy from Ibadan river

Oyo State Fire Service has rescued a 12-year-old boy from a river in Ibadan, the state capital.

It was gathered that the boy fell into the Renascent River located at Adekanbi Street, Ajibola Area in Aremo, Ibadan.

The incident occured on Tuesday.

Our correspondent learnt that the fire agency was informed immediately the incident occurred.

The boy was thereafter rescued by men of the agency.

General Manager of the agency, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka confirmed the development to TERRY A.

He added that the boy has been handed over to his parents, and subsequently moved to a hospital for medical attention.

“The fire personnel were promptly deployed to the scene and on arrival we got to work through search and rescue equipment and able to rescue the twelve (12) years old boy from the deep river.

“He was handed over to his parents and conveyed to the nearest hospital for proper medical treatment.

“According to our investigation, the victim sank when he was trying to pass through to the other side of the river.”
