The Osun State government and a socio-political group, Atunluse Asoludero Movement, are at odds over the Amotekun security outfit. The movement’s founder, Comrade Omole Oluwasegun Omo-Osodi, has condemned a group known as Concerned Citizens of Osun for defending Amotekun, describing them as faceless and politically sponsored.
Omole-Osoodi urged the Osun State government to stop exploiting discontented citizens in the name of politics, questioning how many of the Concerned Citizens group members have been affected by Amotekun’s alleged murderous acts. He cited instances where Amotekun allegedly killed innocent citizens, including the Akinlalu incident in Ife North, which resulted in four deaths and eight hospitalizations.
The Atunluse Asoludero Movement is calling for the arrest and prosecution of the Amotekun State Commander, who has an outstanding murder charge. They also want the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to transfer the commander to Abuja to face trial.
In response to the Concerned Citizens group’s claim that Senator Francis Fadahunsi is destroying Amotekun with “politics of bitterness and ego trips,” Omole-Osoodi described Fadahunsi as an institution in himself, commanding respect in Osun and across Nigeria. He emphasized that Fadahunsi will not allow thugs to endanger his constituents’ lives.
