Nigerian man sets new Guinness World Record after twerking for over 3 hours
Babajide Isreal Adebanjo, a Nigerian man, has set a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest twerking duration.

Adebanjo achieved this feat in Lagos on January 14 by twerking for 3 hours and 30 minutes.

The Guinness World Records announced the achievement on their official website, stating,

“This record attempt was personal to Babajide as it was a way for him to get out of his comfort zone and to raise awareness for anyone suffering from depression around the world.”

They added,

“His message is that no record is too crazy, too big, too great, or too little to achieve. There is always space for everyone and their unique attributes,” highlighting the inclusivity of record attempts.

The previous record was held by Elena Sofie Sterlini, an Austrian who twerked for 2 hours and 1 minute on January 3, 2023. Sofie aimed to break the record as a personal achievement.

In addition to this, the Guinness World Record for the most people twerking simultaneously is 406, achieved by Big Freedia and Central City Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana, on November 15, 2014. The event, hosted by the Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard Merchants & Business Association, celebrated the area’s cultural traditions and supported local businesses and non-profits, with Big Freedia leading the record attempt.
