NEWCASTLE plans to sign Premier League star for £20M, NOW HE’LL COST £50M

Newcastle United face a battle for Robert Sanchez after Leicester City joined the race to sign the Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper.

Newcastle already have a first-choice goalkeeper in Martin Dubravka but Eddie Howe may seek an improvement this summer.

Karl Darlow is likely to move on whilst Freddie Woodman’s future is unclear after a disappointing loan spell at Bournemouth.

Add in that Mark Gillespie is only at Newcastle as cover and Newcastle could look towards a new stopper.

The likes of Bernd Leno and Dean Henderson have been linked whilst Sanchez is another name mentioned.

in April that Newcastle were chasing Sanchez and wanted to offer £20million.

Newcastle are bringing in Brighton’s Dan Ashworth and already raided them for Dan Burn in January.

Sanchez has gone from being on loan at Rochdale to being in the Spain squad, enjoying a stun

The problem for Newcastle is that Leicester City now want to sign Sanchez.

Schmeichel is entering the final year of his contract this summer and Leicester want to have a succession plan in place.

Leicester do already have Danny Ward and Daniel Iversen on their books but seemingly fancy signing Sanchez.

The Telegraph claim that Brighton may demand £50million for Sanchez though, which is some way north of the £20million Newcastle had in mind.

Leicester are thought to have enquired into signing Sanchez, which would put them ahead of Newcastle as things stand.

With PIF’s investment, Newcastle may well be able to pull off a big-money deal for Sanchez this summer, but Leicester are certainly complicating things.
