Chelsea and Brazil defender, Thiago Silva, will sign a one-year contract extension at Stamford Bridge.
Silva signed an initial 12-month deal when he joined from Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent last summer.
Despite suffering from injury problems, the Brazilian has shown he has lost little of his quality.
Silva worked under Thomas Tuchel in Paris and the German tactician appreciates the defender’s leadership, even if he has not been able to call on him as much as he’d like in recent weeks.

Chelsea inserted a 12-month extension option in Silva’s initial deal, but it required both sides to agree in order for it to be activated.
Silva believes he has more to give and has agreed to extend his deal, meaning he will stay at Chelsea until he is at least 37.
