A 5-year-old girl identified as Moriana Maruf has died as a result of injuries sustained after she was attacked by a dog.
It was gathered that the little girl was attacked by the dog at Adagbada area of Apete, a suburb of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, around 7:4am on Sunday.
Our correspondent gathered that the dog that attacked the girl was owned by one Mrs Eunice Kolade.
It was gathered on Tuesday that the girl was taken to a private hospital in the area but was later referred to University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
She later died in the process, a source said.

Our correspondent gathered that one of the residents of the area, identified as Mr Sunday, killed the dog after the incident.
A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the little girl was attacked by the dog beyond recognition.
“The dog attacked the little girl beyond recognition. She was taken to a private hospital and was later referred to UCH. She did not survive it.”
The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Adewale Osifeso, when contacted on Wednesday, said that investigation is ongoing.
Osifeso, in a short statement made available to NEWSMEN said, “Investigation is ongoing, sir”.
