Graham Potter was born in the English town of Solihull, around seven miles south-east of Birmingham, where he started as a player with Birmingham City, and he remained in the West Midlands for the majority of his playing career.

He was Born on 20 May 1975, Graham Potter is currently 47 years old. After starting his career close to home with Birmingham City, Graham Potter represented fellow West Midlands clubs Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion in the English second division – now known as the Championship – in addition to one season in the Premier League with Southampton.

 

 

 

 

 

Potter also spent time on loan at Wycombe Wanderers, Northampton Town and Reading, before moving down the divisions with York City, Boston United, Shrewsbury Town and Macclesfield Town in the latter years of his career.

Graham Potter began coaching in the British university system, working with the University of Hull, Leeds Metropolitan University and English Combined Universities teams, as well as acting as technical director for the Ghana national team at the 2007 Women’s World Cup.

He entered the professional game in Sweden with Ostersunds, leading them from the fourth division to the top flight, as well as winning the Swedish Cup and reaching the knock-out stages of the Europa League.

 

 

 

 

 

Graham Potter is known for building teams that play an attacking game with a fluid passing style in possession while applying intense pressure when off the ball. He has also shown an ability to switch systems frequently depending on the opponents and situation without sacrificing his own side’s identity and way of playing. During his time at Brighton, Potter primarily used a 3-4-2-1, 4-4-2 and 4-1-4-1 formation for his team.

Graham Potter took charge of 134 matches in all competitions as Brighton & Hove Albion head coach. He was previously Swansea City manager for one season with 51 games played, but his longest stint at a single club was in Sweden with Ostersunds, where he was on the touchline for 221 matches.

 

 

 

 

Graham Potter’s previous experience in the Premier League comes from just over three seasons with Brighton & Hove Albion. His Brighton side finished 15th and 16th in the table before rising to ninth last season, and sit fourth in the current standings following a 5-2 win over Leicester City in Potter’s final match in charge at the Amex Stadium.

Graham Potter led Ostersunds to promotion as champions by winning the Swedish fourth and third divisions in his first two seasons as a manager, in 2011 and 2012. After earning a further promotion by finishing second in the second division, he led them to victory in the 2017 Swedish Cup, lifting the only piece of major silverware in the club’s history and qualifying for the Europa League.

Graham Potter was named as Manager of the Year in the Swedish top flight after guiding Ostersunds to a top-half finish in their first season following promotion in 2016, and retained the award the following year after improving to end 2017 in fifth place in the Allsvenskan table, as well as winning the Swedish Cup. He was also honoured as the best coach from any sport in the country at the 2017 Swedish Sports Awards.

 

 

Graham Potter’s Brighton & Hove Albion team broke a number of club records over the last three seasons, often more than once as they continued to break new ground year by year.

The Seagulls’ ninth-place finish, total of 51 points and 42 goals scored last season are all the club’s best-ever in the top division, while their 4-0 victory over Manchester United in May was their biggest winning margin in the Premier League. The 12 clean sheets kept by Potter’s Brighton in 2020/21 is also a club record in the top flight.
