Amid emirship tussle, mysterious fire guts Emir Sanusi’s palace, throne,other valuables destroyed

A mysterious fire has destroyed a portion of the palace of Muhammadu Sanusi, the 16th Emir of Kano, in Gidan Rumfa.

Daily Trust reports that palace insiders revealed that the incident happened on Friday night at approximately 11 p.m.

Terry Agathered that the Emir holds court in the affected palace in Kofar Kudu every Monday.

According to the report, the perpetrators of the fire incident pushed open the door, lit it on fire, and then shut it, destroying the throne, air conditioners, and other valuables.

However, the Kano State Fire Service stated they were unaware of the occurrence since they did not get any calls at their stations.

Munir Sanusi Bayero, the Emir’s Chief of Staff, issued a statement confirming the occurrence.

He claimed, “On Saturday morning, July 13, 2024, a fire broke out in the outside court of the Palace, Kofar Kudu. Fortunately, there were no injuries and the damage was minor.”

According to the statement, the palace is taking steps to assure the inhabitants’ safety and security, as well as researching the cause of the fire to prevent future instances.
