In the case of Haaland, he’s scored 12 goals in his first eight matches for Manchester City, lighting up the Premier League in process.
Whilst Benzema is firmly on track to lift his first Ballon d’Or come October after enjoying a mesmeric season for Los Blancos.
And when it comes to Lewandowski, well, just look at the guy’s goal record – the Polish hitman scored on a staggering 50 occasions for Bayern last season and has notched eight goals in his first five games for Barcelona this campaign, too.
We feel like it’s a near enough impossible task to split them, but it seems like the folks over at FourFourTwo disagree and have duly ranked the 10 best strikers in world football right now.
We’ve summarised their findings for you below.

*10. Lautaro Martinez*
A typically tenacious Argentine centre forward, Martinez has been doing the business at Inter for several seasons now.
Last campaign, he netted an impressive 21 league goals and was integral in the club’s title charge in which they narrowly lost out to city rivals AC Milan.
Now entering the prime of his career as a 25-year-old, it could be time for Martinez to accelerate his progression and become one of the finest attackers on the planet.
*9. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang*
Who would have thought – Aubameyang is now a Chelsea player…
That’s pretty crazy when you think about it and must be a bitter pill to swallow for many Gooners, who adored Aubameyang throughout much of his Arsenal spell.
Admittedly, he is now 33 and therefore almost certainly past the peak of his powers.
But the blistering pace he’s best known for hasn’t totally deserted him just yet, whilst his instinctive eye for goal remains as sharp as ever.
*8. Dusan Vlahovic*
The Serbian smashed home 49 goals in 108 appearances for Fiorentina, so fans of Juventus rightly expected big things after the club splashed out £76.5 million for his services.
Fortunately, he’s probably managed to surpass those lofty expectations and looks like one of the best strikers in Europe despite being just 22.
He’s scored four goals in four Serie A starts this campaign, including two absolutely stonking free-kicks.
Vlahovic is a serious, serious player.
*7. Gabriel Jesus*
Another star that has enjoyed an exemplary start to the 2022/23 season is Arsenal new boy Jesus.
We always knew he was a top player at City but my word how he’s shocked everyone with the quality of his performances at Arsenal.
Sure, you can rely on him for goals and assists. However, it’s his intelligence, movement and general work rate which has impressed fans the most.
Expect the Brazilian to be much higher when this list is reviewed at the end of the season.

*6. Darwin Nunez*
Now this could raise a few eyebrows, Nunez over Jesus?
The Uruguayan, who Liverpool dropped £67 million on over the summer before performance related add-ons are included, has had a rollercoaster start to life in England, that’s for sure.
He’s shown flashes of promise and scored some good goals for his new club – the potential has been on show for all to see.
But a reckless red card against Crystal Palace showed a naivety to his game, and the 22-year-old is still a little rough around the edges, so placing him sixth on this list is arguably slightly premature.
*5. Harry Kane*
Kane is modern football’s answer to Wayne Rooney. Yes, he will absolutely score you 20 goals a season. But he’ll also hit double figures in the assist rankings and spend about 30% of his time playing as a holding midfielder just to find that added space to work his magic.
The England captain is also well on route to become his nation’s top goalscorer as well and, who knows, by the time his career is through he might be the Premier League record holder also.
*4. Kylian Mbappe*
Is Mbappe a striker? Debatable. Although he can pretty much play anywhere across the attack so we’re happy to have him included in the top 10, even if he is arguably more effective coming off one of the flanks.
But back to the player, never have we witnessed such devastating explosiveness as when Mbappe is well and truly at it.
The Frenchman falls into the super rare category of actually being unstoppable at times and if he hasn’t claimed two or three Ballon d’Or awards by the time he’s hung up his boots then we’ll be shocked.
*3. Robert Lewandowski*
Lewandowski became the only man to manage Champions League hat-tricks at three different clubs when he rocketed three past Viktoria Plzen on his European debut for Barcelona.
The prolific Pole just knows where the goal is and has proven the only challenger to the scoring power of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for the last decade, now surpassing them both season after season.

*2. Karim Benzema*
Like a fine French wine, Benzema has just gotten better and better with age, developing into the complete forward.
For years he sacrificed his own game to support his greater teammate Ronaldo, but in the absence of the Portuguese star, Benzema has taken the reigns at Madrid and led the club to glory.
He’ll claim the Ballon d’Or in October, there’s really no doubt. The real question now is: can he combine with Mbappe to lead his country to glory at the Qatar World Cup?
*1. Erling Haaland*
You have to admit, right in this very moment, Haaland is the hottest striker on the planet.
Those who doubted his abilities, alluding to the so-called ‘farmers leagues’ that he’d scored all his goals in previously are being served a rather enormous dose of humble pie.
Premier League defenders have no answer. The managers have reportedly been having secret meetings about how to stop him.
Haaland really has the English top-flight on tenterhooks right now and should he avoid any major injuries, all Premier League goal records are set to be smashed.
