Liverpool Captain Jordan Henderson has admitted that he doesn’t watch Manchester City’s game and prefers to watch ‘kids’ TV’ instead.
Henderson was speaking to Sky Sports following Liverpool’s 2-1 win against Southampton on Tuesday night after they came from a goal behind.
Nathan Redmond put the hosts in front at the St Mary’s Stadium with a curling effort outside the box, which took a nick off James Milner.
Takumi Minamino equalised shortly after with a fierce effort at the near post, before Joel Matip popped up with a bizarre header to give Jurgen Klopp’s men a vital win and take the title race to the last day of the season.
With just one game to go the Reds are a point behind Pep Guardiola’s side and know that should City drop points to Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium, the Premier League title will go to Anfield if Liverpool beat Wolverhampton Wanderers.
As the race for the title looks set to draw to a dramatic climax, Henderson was asked if he or any of his other teammates watched their fellow challengers, however the captain admitted that he had other priorities when it came to the TV selection in the Henderson household.
“I don’t normally watch them, no,” he said to Jamie Carragher.
“I think a few of the lads do now and then when we’ve got time at home we probably do but the way they play, it’s never nice to watch.
“I put the kids’ channels on or something and watch that with the kids, that’s probably better to watch.”
The England skipper did reserve some praise for City however and labelled them as a “fantastic team.”
“They’re a fantastic team,” he added.
“[They’ve] got unbelievable players, a fantastic manager and it’s always going to be tough, but we thought from January we’ve really kicked on and taken it right to the end.
“If you looked back at January and said it would go right to the wire and to the last game we would’ve taken it then so you’ve got to give a lot of credit to the lads for the way they’ve been in the second half of the season.”
