OYO State Governor Seyi Makinde has approved ₦25 million for the people who composed the state anthem “Asiwaju Ni Wa”.
The governor approved the award after the executive council meeting on Tuesday, September 24.
This was revealed on Wednesday, September 25, by the commissioner for information and orientation, Dotun Oyelade.
According to the commissioner, the composers will be honoured with land allocation each, street naming, and a documentary produced by the Ministry of Information and Orientation, chronicling the anthem’s history.

Oyelade said the anthem titled “Asiwaju Ni Wa” was adopted officially by the state about 10 years ago, yet its composers got no reward, prompting the council to form a committee last year.
Meanwhile, Oyelade announced that the council reviewed the promotion of 1,629 workers in the state, including those affected by administrative errors during the 2017-2020 promotion exercises.
This decision aims to rectify past injustices and ensure that affected workers receive due recognition and compensation, he noted.
The commissioner added that the state government approved the reinstatement of 47 civil servants who were wrongly dismissed during the previous administration and commended the efforts of the state head of service, Olubunmi Oni.

Besides, 124 workers who lost their jobs in 2012 were also pardoned, bringing the total number of reinstated workers to 171.
Oyelade announced that 823 workers dismissed by the previous administration because they submitted fake certificates would not be reinstated.
