Gunmen kill Polytechnic final year student [READ FULL DETAILS]

Fear has gripped the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic community in Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of the state following the murder of a final-year student by suspected armed robbers.

The victim, identified as Saviour, a final-year student of the Electrical Electronics Department, was shot dead on Saturday night while struggling to retain his cellphone from the robbers.

Sources close to the school told   on condition NEWSMEN of anonymity on Sunday because of the sensitive nature of the matter that the incident occurred around 8 pm at Ikot Uboh in Ikot Ekpene LGA, close to the student’s former residence.

According to the source, the armed robbers opened fire on their victim as he tried to raise the alarm.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, confirmed the incident and stated that the police are working tirelessly to apprehend the culprits.

“The perpetrators will be apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law. It is the determination of CP, Waheed Ayilara, to rid Akwa Ibom State of criminal elements. And this is not negotiable,” she stated.
