On Friday, March 8, 2024, a Corps Member, Samiat Olorungbebe discussed with the present Senior Secondary School (1) female students of Timi Agbale Grammar School, Ede, Osun State about the ‘Importance of Education.’

 

Samiat started the discussion by appreciating staffs of the school for giving her the opportunity to serve her mandatory one year National Youth Service and making the journey easy and soothing.

 

She furthered her conversation by enlightening the students about education and its importance.

Education is an enlightening experience. Education is knowledge that can never be taken away from you and it can take us far beyond our expectations. It creates a positive exposure allowing us gain more knowledge beyond what we learn at home and a great achievement in life”.

 

Additionally, she sited notable women of great importance and told the students to believe in themselves as they too can make greater achievements in life.

 

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Folorunsho Alakija, Obiageli Ezekwesili, Mo Abudu, Ibukun Awosika are examples of the notable women and I believe you can be grater and exceptional if you believe in yourself”.

 

She stated that life can be challenging because becoming successful isn’t an easy task, nevertheless, they shouldn’t allow failure to outweigh their success.

Do not be afraid of failure as it is another stepping stone to greatness. If you fall seven times, make use of the experience you’ve mapped out from the number of times you’ve fallen, re-strategize and get up the eighth time. It is okay to pause and try again. Just brace yourself up and do not be disappointed”.

Lastly, she told the students “to work hard, tell their story so that someone else will not tell it and get it wrong”.

 

Hamzat Olabode and Francis Oladipupo (Corper) were present alongside the Corper during the discussion.
