After receiving a petition on June 27 from the estate of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, alleging assault among other things, the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2, Alagbon, Lagos Annex, Force Criminal Investigation Department, has revealed that it invited music promoter Samson Balogun, known as Sam Larry, and others to appear before them.
A lawyer representing Sam Larry and the other defendants filed a counter-petition against Mohbad, accusing him of defamation of character when the singer failed to appear in court to defend himself. The FCID’s Lagos Annex spokesman, Oluniyi Ogundeyi, told reporters in an exclusive phone interview on Thursday night that the late singer Mohbad did not show up to the police station to adopt and defend his petition, as well as provide proof of the allegations, to help the police in prosecuting the suspects, if necessary.

Specifically, a petition to the FCID Annex in Alagbon, Lagos State, was made public in which the late artist reported a case of claimed threat to life, malicious damage, assault, and oppression against a music promoter named Samson Balogun, alias Sam Larry, and others.

“We received the petition, followed up on the information provided in the petition, and invited the suspects,” Ogundeyi added. Nonetheless, Mohbad did not show up to defend his petition and provide evidence to let the police conduct a thorough investigation and refer the case to the legal department for prosecution, should that become necessary.
