The 2022 FIFA World Cup has generated positive reviews from most regions of the globe, with a vast majority of experts and fans being delighted by what they have seen.

Nevertheless, not everyone feels the same way about the competition being held in the Middle East, and one of those voices has spoken out today at Real Madrid’s camp.

The man in question is none other than Carlo Ancelotti, who chose not to hold back and shared a different take on the tournament, which has left the Italian boss far from being impressed.

“I don’t think it is being a great World Cup. I am convinced that there will be little or nothing to remember out of Qatar 2022,” Ancelotti stated.

The coach shared this insight on the tournament since there have been no breakthrough players for the Italian, who named some of the footballers who have been able to live up to the hype.

“There have been some good players, but we all knew about them. Top of my head, I’d say Mbappé, Richarlison, Vinicius, Bellingham, Julián Álvarez, Guido Rodríguez y and Morocco’s goalkeeper, Bono,” Ancelotti added.

Ancelotti admitted that this World Cup will mark the end of an era, as the new generations will have to follow a different set of players.

“This is a transition phase, especially for strikers. The era of Ibra, Ronaldo, Suárez, Cavani, Messi and Benzema is ending. Lewandowski will turn 35 next year.

“The new era will be led by players such as Richarlison, Haaland, Mbappé, Julián Álvarez, Darwin Núñez, or Gonçalo Ramos, who I did not know anything about,” the coach said.

Before the presser concluded, Ancelotti decided to praise one of his former pupils, who has been named as a potential transfer target for Los Blancos in coming weeks.

“Richarlison is a modern striker, not too good with his feet, but with fantastic pace in the box and well coordinated. He is not a giant, but he has a strong head. He is not your average Brazilian striker, but he is among the best right now,” Ancelotti concluded.
