BASKETBALL: 100 girls set to take part in Ibadan Basketball Camp

Over 100 girls will take part in this year’s Rashidat Sadiq Basketball camp at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan.

The event, which is being organised under the Rashidat Sadiq Basketball Foundation, holds from July 17 to 19.

This year’s camp, according to the 6’2” forward, has a theme ‘Strive for Greatness’.

According to Sadiq, who represented Nigeria at the 2004 Olympic Games, 2006 FIBA World Championship and the 2006 Commonwealth Games after helping Nigeria to the 2003 and 2005 Afrobasket for Women triumphs, said the camp was meant to give opportunities to young girls to hone their skills in the slam and dunk game.

“I see it as a duty to give back to young and talented girls to help them realise that they can make it big in life through basketball and education. I’m sure they will benefit immensely from programme and hopefully some of them will become big stars in future, while also excelling in their education,” she stated.
